The Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior AV Technician that can work within Live Events to join our team in London. You should have great technical experience with a skill base across all aspects of Audio Visual equipment, you should ideally be an ambitious person who is able to use your own initiative to solve problems and learn about new technology. For this we will reward you with a good salary, bonuses, training and great promotional opportunities, whilst also working and learning from our Project Manager.
 
 
Your Duties
As one of our experienced Senior AV Technicians, your duties will include:-
 Working on exciting projects alongside an experienced Project Manager,
 Supervising junior crew, technicians and freelancers on smaller events.
 Preparing & Checking & Loading equipment for events and ensuring Health and Safety is adhered to.
 Driving and Delivering and Setting-up AV Equipment,
 Operating and /or working on Live Events
 De-rigging and checking equipment back into the warehouse
 As well as normal day to day duties associated with this industry and position
 
The type of person we need?
You will need to be a responsible positive person, who has a can-do attitude and can remain calm under pressure. The essential requirements are:-
 
Essential Requirements
  • You must have a minimum of 2.5 years AV Technician experience in the Live Events industry with a proven record of setting up multiple technical aspects of AV, for all types of events including larger productions such as award shows and larger conferences with set and staging.
  •  Have a proven in-depth understanding of AV including *Lighting, Sound, Video, Projection, Switching and IT and Rigging.
  • You should be able to display that you regularly use your own initiative to learn new technology and to bring new ideas for equipment and technology, to have a passion to learn and solve problems.
  •  You must have a clean European Driving Licence and been driving for a minimum of 2 years. You would need to be a confident driver and be able to drive a company van with a proven good knowledge of driving in Central London or another main City.
  • You should have experience of delivering a high quality service to all types of clients excellent client facing skills and good communication skills
  • A good positive and happy attitude as well as a team player.
  • Ability to work shifts, and Ability to work long hours on events when required due to the nature of the events industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to resolve issues diplomatically and calmly.
  • You must have the capability to carry and lift AV equipment and staging from vans to venues.

Job Overview
As our Warehouse Assistant, you will undergo an on-the-job training to learn to manage the warehouse, prepare equipment and begin to support our Audio Visual Technicians.  You will learn to be responsible for Preparing & Checking & Loading equipment for events, managing the stock, cleaning the warehouse and relevant areas, cleaning the equipment, ensuring Health and Safety in the warehouse, and eventually Setting-up simple AV Equipment, as well as Operating at simple Live Events, de-rigging and checking equipment back into warehouse, testing, cleaning and maintaining equipment and warehouse and offices. As well as some administration tasks associated with the preparation of equipment for our Technicians and ensuring the Health and Safety policies and requirements.
Your Experience
As a trainee, you would need a minimum of 1 years relevant industry or education experience, showing that you can set up some simple types of AV equipment.  This experience can be displayed either as a DJ, or musician, or through your education or experience of filming or working in a relevant company as a trainee.  The candidate must display a passion for this industry and be willing to learn about new equipment and technology.
 
Main Duties
During your training, you will be taught to do the following duties:-
  • Ensure that all booked audio visual and associated equipment and furniture is available for delivery through evaluating weekly and daily schedules and stock numbers.
  • Preparing, checking and testing equipment prior to loading for live events
  • Ensuring all equipment and peripherals are loaded onto the vans.
  • Overcome & solve any equipment shortfall or unavailability through creative thinking and discussing with the senior Management team and Lead crew to organise the sub-hires of equipment.
  • To load equipment onto vans safely and correctly.
  • Undertake warehouse management activities including (but not exhaustive) stock control, ensuring warehouse is clean and tidy, ensuring health and safety mechanisms and equipment preparation.
  • At all times ensure health and safety is adhered too, relating to all aspects of work, particularly in relation to the handling/lifting and installation/setting up of equipment. 
  • Check equipment back into the warehouse by testing, cleaning and maintaining at the conclusion of each event. Where necessary, and if appropriate and approved, carry out repairs to equipment before returning stock or notifying the Senior AV Technician where major repairs are required.
  • To organise the repairs of equipment in a safe manner as quickly as possible to ensure equipment is back on the shelves.
  • To build and create sets and staging, training will be provided for this.
  • To tidy and clean warehouse and offices regularly
  • And ensure stock is properly cared for and recorded adequately, responsibility of stock check.
  • Carrying and lifting all types of equipment including large flight cases and plasma screens some distance from warehouse to the Vans AND from vans into a venue.  (Physical work will be required, so you must have the ability to carry and lift equipment some distance from vans to Warehouse to venues and vice versa).
  • Carry out administrative tasks associated with the warehouse and organising equipment.
  • To assist the Senior Technicians and Management teams to where improvements can be made in day to day operations.
  • All other duties associated with this role and adhoc duties as requested.
  • Carry out some equipment testing, and fixing if appropriate.
  • Be responsible for any other duties associated with the delivery of live events as expected by the Senior AV Technician or Project Manager. 
  • Operating simple technical equipment at live events as required by the client and where necessary diagnose and resolve AV equipment problems,
 
 
Adhoc duties in busy or quiet periods -
  • To pick up equipment from suppliers on occasions.
  • Delivery of equipment to the venue, ensuring equipment is loaded appropriately and safely for the equipment being transported.
  • Accurate set up of AV equipment and associated equipment and furniture for an event.
  • Plan efficient and time saving journey routes across London and the country if appropriate.
  • Set up of, and de-rigging of simple equipment including audio, lighting, audio visual and display equipment, sets and staging and event furniture at venues in accordance with current health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Dress the venue as required including any furniture, fixtures, carpets, lecterns etc.
  • Carry out administration tasks associated with delivery of equipment to clients.
  • To ensure that equipment is ready and in place before each event

Working Conditions
The final working conditions will be confirmed in your employment contract, however below gives an anticipated idea of working conditions for this job.   This role is expected to work 40 hours per week. This role may be rota’d for week-end working, which may fall every 4-6 week-ends and some of your work may involve some lifting and carrying.  You will be required to wear a uniform which will be provided.
You will be paid your salary and other payments each month at the last working day of the month.
 
Training and Development
You will receive on the job structured training with the Senior Management Team overseeing your training and development.  You will be requested to keep your knowledge of new equipment and technologies current throughout your career.  Further training will be provided including AV training at a later date after your probation.  It is expected that you may have a promising career path with no limits set if appropriate.  It is Media Services Company policy to promote our staff if at all possible.
