Wedding Lighting Hire

Wedding lighting hire is a very affordable and often overlooked way of transforming a conventional wedding venue into one that is astoundingly unique and breathtakingly spectacular. Lighting not only helps to create a mesmerising atmosphere, its functionality – to highlight what you’d like your guests to see and what you’d like them to focus on – can, to name but a few other things, help photographers and videographers take better and more interesting footage; it can help keep your guests safe and it can also guide them to different locations around your venue.

State of the art wedding lighting can allow you to colour-wash a room in your chosen colour theme, it can illuminate décor; features and areas that you’d like guests to pay attention to and go “wow!”, it can illuminate a stage for your entertainers, it can bring your evening reception to life and with theatrical Gobo lighting you can project intricate patterns; monograms, words or names onto your venue’s walls. And even if your ceremony, reception, wedding breakfast or evening party are outdoors, that’s not an issue; you can still achieve plenty of special effects out in the open.

At Media Services we provide the following types of wedding lighting for hire, and even if what you’re after is not listed below, it’s always worth contacting us to see if we can get it for you or to see if we can offer you the most appropriate alternative.
  • Up Lighting – This is a popular enhancement for any wedding and is a favourite piece of wedding lighting hire at Media Services. These modest, ground-based LED light fittings can be strategically placed around your venue to highlight interesting décor and outdoors they can be used to mark out pathways and are perfect for illuminating trees and beautiful architecture. These types of light typically cast a warm glow, but you can choose to colour wash areas in your chosen colour scheme.

  • Pin Spot Lighting – Another modest and chic wedding lighting hire addition that can be used on tables to highlight centrepieces and give your guests more light to see their evening meal.
  • Wash Lighting – Can be used to create a wash of colour across your venue’s ceiling or down linen drapes.
  • Gobo Lighting – Gobos can project coloured lettering and words onto walls, ceilings or floors. A popular way to utilise gobo lighting is to project a couple’s monogram behind the top table which, after the wedding breakfast, moves from the wall and leads the couple to the dancefloor for their first dance.

  • Pea Lighting – The AV industry’s name for professional grade LED fairy lights. These can be constructed into canopies or walkways, can be wrapped around beams, architectural features and if outdoors, trees and shrubbery to create a magical ambience.
  • Festoon Lighting – These are strings of traditionally shaped light bulbs that can be strung anywhere and depending on the colour(s) they produce, can give off an almost carnival atmosphere. In more recent years, however, festoon lighting that produces a warm glow are combined with sleek white décor that have rose-gold or chrome accents to produce a lustrous, contemporary, almost Nordic feel; ideal for a modern, elegant urban wedding.

  • Intelligent Lighting –Overhead gantries of moving lights can be programmed and operated by AV technicians to create a vast array of colourful beams that sweep across your dancefloor, put a spotlight on speech givers, and highlight you and your partner as you take your first dance together as a married couple.
  • LED Bubble Tubes and Water Walls – For something a little different, these tower lights come in a variety of shapes and sizes and make great features in themselves, in particular, colour-changing bubble water walls; perfect for enhancing boring corners of a venue.

  • Ultra Violet Lighting – These funky black lights can be used to make everything that’s white stand out with a glow. If you’re hosting a Halloween-inspired wedding and your wedding band have come dressed as skeletons, dimming the lights and turning up the UV will make it seem like you’re at a Día de Muertos event!
  • Disco Mirror Balls – A standard mirror ball can give any venue a retro party feel, and black mirror balls provide a venue with a ballroom-like atmosphere; sophisticated but fun.
  • Illuminated Signs – These can be custom illuminated letters, typically 4’ – 8’ tall that spell out names or words and can be strategically placed around a wedding venue. Other illuminated signs that can be hired or custom built for weddings are neon signs. They can be used as decorations behind the top table, or can be used as table numbers. These types of sign add an interesting element to a wedding and, depending on the typeface used, can enhance a particular ambience. For example, using a Script typeface on a neon sign mixes the contemporary with the dreamy, a Neoclassical typeface mixes the ultra-modern with chic sophistication and Blackletter typefaces bring the medieval, gothic age into the future.
